Former
Chieftain Chris Kreider and USA Junior Team beat Canada for GOLD!

Masco defeated
Pentucket on Wednesday by a score of 3-1 on an emtional night for the
Sachems. Pentucket spent the night honoring their defenseman and
captain Matt Mccarthy whom had recently passed away. With that
strength Pentucket came out flying scoring a goal within the first 25
seconds of the game on junior Casey Tudor. However, Tudor would play
stellar the rest of the night, stopping all shots that came his way
including two breakaways. Junior Corey Tudor scored the first goal
for Masco in the second period, which would shortly be followed by
goals from fellow juniors Pat Crosby and Sean Haines. The Chieftains
were able to outlast the Sachems and pull away with a victory. The
boys look to continue this hot streak in a game against Peabody on Saturday.

Masco bounced
back after their loss to Wilmington with a 4-1 victory over
Newburyport at home on Wednesday. Junior Corey Tudor scored the first
two goals of the game off of beautiful passes from sophomore Vincent
Zingarelli and senior Charlie Gendron. Tudor's offensive spark was
all the Chieftains needed, as junior Jake Warren made some
unbelievable saves in net for the Chieftains. Sophomore Brian
Hellrigel scored his first varsity goal on a nice shot from the
point, while senior captain Ryan Dooley made a great move off of a
pass from junior Nick Emma to put away his second goal of the season.
The next game for the Chieftains is on Dec 28 in a tournament at
Burbank arena.

The Wilmington
Wildcats are favored to be the number one seed in the Cape Ann League
this year, and they showed why against Masco in Wilmington on
saturday, defeating the Chieftains 3-0. The Chieftains struggled to
put the puck by a strong Wilmington goalie, and ended the night
scoreless. The bright spot for Masco was a hit by senior defenseman
Rob Grant, who demolished a wildcat forward in a clean open ice hit.
Masco plays reigning Cape Ann League Champs Newburyport on Wednesday,
and look to improve on their offense.

Amesbury
proved to be a tough opponent for the Chieftains to handle, as they
ended up with a 4-4 tie in Masco's home opener. Masco kept the puck
in the offensive zone for most of the game, but struggled to
capitalize on their chances due to a hot Indian goalie. However, the
Chieftains put up a powerplay goal from Junior Sean Haines to end the
first period, and go into the locker room up by one. The Indians put
the pressure on though, capitalizing on three opportunities in the
second period, and moving ahead 3-1. Masco did not let up though,
when Junior Pat Crosby scored a goal to pull the Chieftains within
one, and Haines scored his second consecutive two goal game off of a
penalty shot to tie the game at three. Amesbury did not give up
though, as they poked another goal by junior goalie Casey Tudor in
the final three minutes. But a bad penalty by the Indians allowed
senior captain Ryan Dooley to score a powerplay goal in the final
minute, and pull off the comeback tie. Masco can put this game behind
them, and now look forward to their game against powerhouse
Wilmington on Saturday.

The Masconomet
Chieftains opened up their season strong with a 3-1 victory over
Lynnfield in Peabody. Junior Corey Tudor put away the first goal of
the game and of his varsity high school career in the second period
on a quick backhander from the slot to put Masco up 1-0. Junior Sean
Haines soon followed suit as he put away a goal of his own later in
the period to increase the Chieftain's lead to 2-0. Goaltender Casey
Tudor played outstanding in net, only letting up a pwerplay goal in
the final two minutes of play. But when Lynnfield tried to pull their
goalie, Haines pounced on his opportunity, and sniped his second goal
of the game before the opposing goalie had time to get back in
position. Masco got revenge on the Pioneers after they knocked them
out of the playoffs last year, and took the season opener 3-1. The
home opener is on Wednesday against Amesbury. |
